Why The Wheels?
I believe in acting when the stars align. Family court awareness is my heart project and each year, I travel around the country hosting retreats, organizing get togethers and educating the masses but with the combination of a life-threatening auto immune disease and a pandemic, my travel plans were placed on the back burner.
Then…we found out that my dad (in Tennessee) has lung cancer; my dad is the reason that I will not align with parental rights organizations. My desire to travel to Tennessee to see my father started the wheels in motion and within days, we secured an RV so that we could safety travel across country.
THE BACKSTORY: My own life story started out in the family court system of Will County, Illinois. Born to teen parents, my mother suffered from bipolar disorder in a time when that type of diagnosis was baffling to doctors and psychologists. Her decisions to self-medicate through alcohol and drugs meant that she was ill-equipped to parent an infant, or any child for that matter. When I was six-months old, my dad received full custody of me. He was only nineteen years old and that is how my story began.
I am on a mission - fueled by my desire to raise awareness and create change. Due to the pandemic, we had to get a bit creative but that’s what I do…I take lemons and I make lemonade. - Tina
